HSBC Bank’s 2015 Expat Explorer Survey shows that Singapore ranks first as the world's best destination for expats while Taiwan ranks eighth. One of the reasons Singapore ranked first in the survey is that they have lower tax rates compared to the US. For Chinese communities, Singapore also offers the potential advantages of having a similar culture.
Starting from 2011, another big transformation began in the structure of the immigrant population. Those coming from Asia, especially India and China, already exceeded those from Latin America.
Tsai says, "There was a Japanese governor that said Taiwanese people are difficult to control because they are rebellious. It’s time for us to save our country from the current predicament based on this rebellious determination."
