Scholars say Xi’s goal of this trip has always been trade advantages. China is not the intermediary between Iran and Saudi Arabia. It is only looking to reinforce its interests in the Middle East. Both Saudi Arabia and Iran do not expect China to declare its stand regarding their conflict.

Freedom House has been rating the degree of Internet freedom from 2011. Iran has placed last in the last four reports, but this year China has surpassed Iran and is now the country that offers least freedom on the Net.
