This year, the total number of imprisoned journalists in the world is 199 and a quarter of them are in China. Daily Mail reports, currently China has imprisoned 49 journalists. This is a record high since the Committee to Protect Journalists started the annual report in 1990.
Xi might tell the US that China has not realized how dangerous the stand of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen are. Former Chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan Richard Bush says that if so, Obama should urge Xi that China needs to react carefully towards Tsai's victory to avoid worsening sensitive issues.
