Biggest Farce in Taiwan Elections? What People Are Saying About KMT's Intention to Replace Presidential Candidate
After the KMT held an extempore party congress on October 7, the removal of KMT presidential candidate Hung Shiu-chu is about to reach a verdict. Chairman Chu Li-luan (also known as Eric Chu) points out the gap between Hung's cross-strait policies and those of the KMT. Hung doesn't agree with Chu's statement and hopes that the party can hold an inside discussion.
Ma's government ran the office inappropriately, which resulted in failure of democracy and accumulation of people’s complaints. This led to the outbreak of the Sunflower Movement. The difference between former president Lee Teng-hui and Ma is the latter was unable to guide the power of the people and resolve the issue.
Former President of Taiwan Lee Teng-hui writes, "(70 years ago) Taiwan and Japan were the same country. If we were part of the same country, then saying that Taiwan was at war with Japan isn't true at all."
President Ma says, "As the president of R.O.C., defending the sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands and piscary is my vocation."
A spokesperson of the president, Chen Yi-xin, says, "Denying Taiwanese sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands is a humiliation to the country. The ROC government and her people cannot accept this."
