Vedi Hadiz is Professor of Asian Studies and Deputy Director at the Asia Institute, University of Melbourne. His research is in the broad areas of political economy and political sociology in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. His newest book is "Islamic populism in Indonesia and the Middle East" (Cambridge University Press, 2016). He received his PhD from Murdoch University in 1996.
