■ The Girl on The Train (列車上的女孩) / Mystery, Thriller / PG-15 / Trailer

Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt), an alcoholic and divorcee, becomes involved in a missing person case after she witnesses a crime on her daily train commute.

“The Girl on the Train” is based on Paula Hawkin’s novel and is directed by Tate Taylor. The film stars Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, and Luke Evans.

■ Operation Mekong (湄公河行動) / Action / R-18 / Trailer

Two Chinese commercial vessels are ambushed while traveling through the Golden Triangle area of the Mekong River, leaving the 13 people on the vessels dead and 900,000 methamphetamine pills recovered at the scene. Upon discovery, the Chinese government sends a team to uncover the truth.

Inspired by true events, “Operation Mekong” is a Hong Kong action film directed by Dante Lam (林超賢), starring Zhang Hanyu (張涵予) and Eddie Pong (彭于晏).

■ The Magnificent Seven (絕地7騎士) / Action / PG-15 / Trailer

"The Magnificent Seven" is a re-imagination of the 1960 western film of the same name, which in turn was a remake of the 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai. It is directed by Antoine Fuqua, and stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, and Haley Bennett.

■ 2016 All Over the City Weekend by Weekend (2016台北周末音樂不斷電) / Oct. 8 - Oct. 9 / Da An Forest Park (大安森林公園)

Up to 27 indie bands will perform at the 2016 All Over the City Weekend by Weekend event on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9, from 1 pm to 9:30 pm.

■ The Platters 2016 Taipei Concert (The Platters 2016台北演唱會) / Oct. 9 / Taipei International Convention Center (台北國際會議中心)

American vocal group The Platters were one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. They are known for songs such as "Only You," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and "Unchained Melody." On Oct. 9, Sonny Turner, the only surviving member of the group, will lead a professional chorus group and jazz band to bring the audience a night of The Platters.

■ Dwagie’s Concert (大支《硬》專輯首賣演唱會) / Oct. 9 / Legacy Taipei

In wake of his latest album release, Taiwanese artist Dwagie (大支) and other guests, including Dongbay (懂伯) and Mcxiao (小人), will bring to the audience a night of rap.

■ Chekhov International Theatre Festival THE WAR (2016國際劇場藝術節－契訶夫國際戲劇節《戰火浮生》) / Oct. 7 - Oct. 9 / Performing Arts Center at NTUA (臺藝表演廳)

THE WAR is a theater performance dedicated to the Centennial of World War I. It is based on Richard Aldington's novel “Death of a Hero,” and the writings “Notes of a Cavalry Officer” by Nikolai Gumilev and “The Iliad” by Homer. The director, Vladimir Pankov, takes the audience on a journey of sound, drama and juggling in theater.
