The Chinese Taipei Badminton Assocation has apologized and made further related announcements.
After a Chinese Taipei Badminton Assocation (CTBA) council meeting yesterday, CTBA chairman Cheng Chun-lang (程俊琅) announced that professional women’s badminton player Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) will not be punished or suspended for failing to wear Yonex-sponsored footwear at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which concluded on Sunday.
Cheng apologized on behalf of the association and said the CTBA is working on removing the terms in its contract with Yonex, which requires players to wear the brand's apparel and footwear. The association also plans to establish a special comittee this September to better oversee regulations in future.
